"Oohhh, I am pleased!" - to quote Julie Walters as Mrs Overall from "Acorn Antiques" as she arrives in the Model Idols showpiece collection! |

| 09 Apr 2009 |
My dedication to my all time favourite film "The Poseidon Adventure" with interpretations taken from the instantly recognisable Poster with the costume variations as depicted continues with child actor Eric Shea as youngster Robin Shelby. Ironically, although Eric may not be an instantly recognisable name his arrival in the showpiece collection launches two new looks for Model Idols. The first new look is better photography with models now being photographed in an artist's light box to enhance the features and eliminate overpowering shadows caused by flash photography. It is hoped that over time as many of the original models can be photographed again using this new method. The second new look is the addition of extra photographs on the model's profile pages. These extra photographs are intended to show some of the finer details of the model. Fans who have registered for the Model Idols newsletter have enjoyed seeing photographs of the finer details but can rest assured that they will always see other exclusive photographs and items of news that will never be published to the website. I have neglected my Diva's in their dreadful final film roles for a little time but have now added Dame Flora Robson whose final role was as one of the blind Stygian Witches from the epic "Clash Of The Titans" - not truly a dreadful film, but in my opinion she deserved a better role to end her illustrious film career. |

30 Dec 2008 |
As promised from the last entry there is a bumper collection of new arrivals to the showpiece collection - ending the year on a high! First of all we have a classic duet from Hairspray with Mel Smith as Wilbur Turnblad and with Michael Ball as Edna Turnblad declaring their love in "You're Timeless To Me". My affection for the legendary Joan Crawford continues with one of her pivotal roles as Mildred Pierce from the film of the same name. There is a new Gene Kelly as Don Lockwood from "Singin' In The Rain" with specially applied varnish to give a dripping rain effect. More close-up photographs of this special effect can be seen exclusively in the newsletter. If you would like to see this please register via the Register for newsletter - FREE page. By way of a change from always creating adults, I had the opportunity to create a rising child star of the West End, Robert Madge as The Artful Dodger in the current production of Oliver at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. A new Glenn Close as Norma Desmond from "Sunset Boulevard" in her "As If We Never Said Goodbye" outfit. Dripping in diamonds and flying in the air is Nicole Kidman as Satine from Moulin Rouge! Finally as promised back on 6 March 2008 here is my dedication to my all time favourite film "The Poseidon Adventure". Considering the dateline in the plot for the film maybe I should have waited one more day before publishing to the website but these models are long overdue! They are my interpretations taken from instantly recognisable Poster with the costume variations as depicted and to date include Gene Hackman as the Reverend Frank Scott, Ernest Borgnine as the tough talking cop, Mike Rogo, Stella Stevens as former prostitute Linda Rogo, Red Buttons as the shy haberdasher James Martin, Shelley Winters as the former swimming champion Belle Rosen with her husband Jack Albertson as Manny Rosen. |

It's a busy day for Model Idols with three new additions to the showpiece gallery. The first two arrivals are the same man but in two different dresses. No, that's not an error as it is in fact Michael Ball as Edna Turnblad from the latest musical hit in London - "Hairspray. The first model of Michael Ball (1) shows him wearing the multicoloured dress trimmed with marabou. The second model of Michael Ball (2) shows him wearing the red dress for the riotous "You Can't Stop The Beat" number. The third model who again is just as outrageous is Lucy The Slut from the musical Avenue Q. These models have all been exclusively made for Dress Circle - the theatre, film, music and memorabilia shop in Central London and are currently on display there. They can be viewed and either ordered or bought in the shop as well as the opportunity to look at the Model Idols portfolio detailing some of the current models in the showpiece collection or give you any ideas of models you want to order for yourself - please see the website at www.dresscircle.co.uk. |

A new year and the first model to arrive in the showpiece collection is West End star Scarlett Strallen as the magical nanny Mary Poppins from the London hit musical. This model gave me my biggest challenge to date to depict her flying. Although I had previously done Idina Menzel flying in the "Defying Gravity" number from "Wicked" that particular model was created using a similar technique to how the effect was achieved on stage. This time round I had to show Scarlett clearly flying above the chimneys and I believe I succeeded in doing this - what do you think? |

The showpiece collection has grown considerably this weekend with several new additions arriving from the promised "Coming Soon" section. First off there is a new Bette Davis as the Nanny from the 1965 thriller "The Nanny". This gives Bette more entries in the "Bette and Joan Infamy" section, but devotees need not worry, Joan will soon be catching her up in the coming weeks. The "Duelling Divas" section has two new additions with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn from the macabre but very funny "Death Becomes Her". Another lady of the cinema's Grand Guignol vein arrives in the shape of the wonderful Shelley Winters as Rosie Forrest from the little know shocker - "Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?" This model uses a brand new technique which a detailed photo will be coming in the February edition of the Model Idols Newsletter, which will not be published on the internet. If you would like to see this and find out more information on the model - please follow the link to the registration page. The first of "The Golden Girls" arrives with Beatrice Arthur as Dorothy following repeated requests from several clients and interested parties. Look out for Rue McClanahan as Blanche who will be arriving later this week! And finally to complete this full day of new arrivals is the indomitable Marlene Dietrich as Lola Lola, "Falling in Love again" from "The Blue Angel". There will be some more new arrivals later this week with all one thing in common - watch this space to find out what...! |

Model Idols proves it is topical with the recent shenanigans from the UK's 2007 edition of Celebrity Big Brother where Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty hit the headlines and news around the world. Whatever you may think about what occurred, they certainly qualify to join the showpiece collection and take their place in the "Dueling Divas" section. |

One of the trickiest models to create, Marilyn Monroe as divorcée Roslyn Tabor arrives in the showpiece collection. The reason this model was so tricky was in the recreating of the famous cherry dress - every single cherry is done with clay and pressed individually into the white clay to avoid any marks with dye from my fingers marking and ruining the effect of the dress. |
